Filmmaker arrested for GST fraud

Micro and small-scale units seek relaxations in GST normsFilmmaker Vijay Ratnakar Gutte has been arrested for alleged Goods and Services Tax (GST) fraud of over ₹34 crore, a GST department official said on Friday.

Mr. Gutte, director of the upcoming film, The Accidental Prime Minister, was arrested by the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence on Thursday. A metropolitan magistrate court here remanded him in judicial custody till August 14.

His firm, VRG Digital Corp Pvt Ltd, allegedly procured 149 fake invoices involving a GST of ₹34.37 crore for manpower services from Horizon Outsource Solutions Pvt. Ltd, the official said.
