Every person whose total income for previous year exceeds basic exemption limits are obligated to file their income tax return. Other than Companies and Tax audit Individuals, any assessee can file a return of income electronically without the use of a digital signature.
ITR V stands for ‘Income Tax Return – Verification’ form. It is an acknowledgment for E- filing which is generated after uploading the ITR.

CPC Bangalore has provided the online facility of checking the status of processing of a income tax return whether signed digitally or not.
The steps involved for users are explained below:
- First, visit to IT Department site. (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in)
- Click on to Services & choose CPC Processing Status.
- The page of Processing Status will get opened.
- Feed up your correct PAN in the field.
- Choose your Assessment Year.
- Enter the code which is case-sensitive & submit it.
- The user will be able to know whether his/her return has been processed or not.
To view ITR V Receipt Status
CPC Bangalore has provided us the benefit of sending ITR V to them in case the return is filed electronically without using digital signature. But, if the assessee has failed to submit the return within the specified time, then the said return will be treated as invalid.
Following steps are explained below by which user can have a look on his receipt status.
- First, visit to IT Department site. (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in)
- Click on to Services & choose ITR-V Receipt Status.
- Choose your correct PAN.
- Select the valid Assessment Year.
- Enter the case-sensitive code & submit it.
- The user will be able to know his/her ITR V Receipt Status.
