While Bangalore may stand undefeated as the most prominent name for tech entrepreneurs and start-up visionaries, other regions all over India are worthy competitors. Rajasthan, rolling out new policies to be a start-up hub

Jaipur, now is fast becoming the next start-up hub of India with excellent social and physical infrastructure, low cost of living, large number of technical and professional colleges and proximity to NCR.

For years reporting of start-up culture seemed to be focused on the activities of businesses based in Bangalore, with seemingly little room for start-up success stories to take place outside of the state.

Bangalore has always been the most popular start-up hub. But now with the roll of time other states like Rajasthan, west Bengal and few more are taking step ahead.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister inaugurated the first edition of the ‘Rajasthan Start-up Fest’. It was a national level start-up event designed to boost entrepreneurship in the state. The Rajasthan Start-up Policy is designed to galvanize the start-up ecosystem and give the required sustenance to the entrepreneurial talent native to the people of the state.

Main focus of Rajasthan Start-up Policy 2015:

ü  50 Incubators / Incubator-like Organizations to be established.

ü  500 innovative start-ups to be supported and incubated.

ü  100,000 sq ft of Incubation Space to be developed / facilitated.

ü  Angel and Venture Capital of Rs 500 Cr to be mobilized for start-ups.

ü  Development of an Innovation and Problem Solving Culture across the State.

Key Focus Areas of the Rajasthan Startup Policy:

ü  Social and Cleantech – Rural Infrastructure & Services, Crafts, Water, Sanitation, Renewable Energy and Healthcare, including asset light models of healthcare delivery and medical devices.

ü  Mobile and Information Technology, including but not limited to crowd sourcing, crowd funding, online financial services

ü  Internet of Things (IoT), Electronics and Hardware.

ü  IT for X’ in the areas of Garment and Crafts, Mining and SME Manufacturing and Services.

ü  Disruptive ideas/Technologies in any sector

The Rajasthan Startup Policy is designed to galvanize the startup ecosystem and give the required sustenance to the entrepreneurial talent native to the people of the state.

While this tech hot-bed still dictates headlines at the billion dollar end of the scale, there has been a growing acceptance that our increasingly connected world has sprouted a number of other thriving start-up hubs, often in places you had least expect to find them.
