Incomes Deemed to be received in the Previous Year

As per the Income Tax Act, 1961 following income shall be deemed to be received in the previous year and hence will be included in the taxable income for the relevant previous year :

  • Employer’s contribution to recognized provident fund in excess of 12% of employees salary.
  • Interest credited to the recognized provident fund balance at the credit of the assessee in excess of 9.5%.
  • The part of balance transferred from unrecognized to recognized provident fund, which is taxable. The balance includes the employer’s contribution and interest thereon.
  • The contribution by the Central Government to the employee’s A/c, under pension scheme referred in section 80CCD in the previous year. The contribution made by any other employer is also covered.
