Individuals will no more require to submit hard copy of the ITR-V to the CPC even after filing online return without Digital Signature. Government is making all the way possible to make the online return filing totally easier. Presently, only companies and tax audit individuals are mandatorily required to file ITR with Digital Signature and non-audited Individuals who file their ITR without Digital Signature are mandatorily required to send the hard copy of the ITR-V to the CPC, Bangalore. Income tax department is planning to make it easier by introducing an electronic signature facility to file online return. This electronic signature will provided by the department and will not involve any cost to the taxpayer. In this electronic signature facility the IT department will provide the taxpayers with a special password protected PIN number via mail or phone, with which one can file returns online without DSC or without sending the hard copy to the CPC. According to the Business Standard report, “The e-filer will be required to provide certain information on the income tax web site related to the previous year’s return. If the information matches the details already available with the department, a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) would be sent to the taxpayer through mobile phone and email. The taxpayer will have to enter this PIN at the time of online filing the return. An income tax official said a strong safety system would be put in place so that there was no security risk or possibility of misuse. This move of the government in all the way will benefit the taxpayers but on the other side this will have an adverse impact on the business of the vendors who are engaged in the business of providing digital signatures.
