Steps to be pursue to View Form 26AS OnlineTax is something which can be either paid by the individual himself or by his/her employer in the form of TDS (Tax Deducted at Source). Sometimes it may happen that you have paid the tax but your employer has not paid your tax in time and in such situation the Income Tax Department issues a notice of demand in that respect. There is an easy solution to this problem i.e. you can view or check your tax credit (Form 26AS) online and can rectify the same.

Form 26AS is basically a Tax Statement which enables the tax payer to view or check the tax credits mainly related to TDS and Advance tax or Self Assessment. The tax payers can verify details related to refunds or Tax Collected at Source (TCS) etc through Form 26AS. It thus helps the tax payer to ensure whether all information being disseminated to IT Department is accurate or requires correction.

Some easy tips or steps has been articulate by the Department in respect of Form 26AS. One can view or verify the Form 26AS in 3 simple steps which are as under –

Step 1 – Register yourself to view the Form 26AS by logging into www.incometaxefiling.gov.in. After logging click on My Account Tab and select View Tax Credit Statement – Form 26AS.

Step 2 – After this provide your date of birth and select the assessment year in the top right corner for which you want to see the details.

Step 3 – You will be redirected to the NSDL website in order to view or download Form 26AS-Tax Credit Statement which has 4 parts related to TDS, TCS, Refunds and other details of tax paid.

Also note down that:      

  • Nowadays, in order to view Tax Credit Statement (Form 26AS) online, of taxpayer option is also available to net banking account holders of registered banks for the benefits of the tax payer at www.tin-nsdl.com. This facility of net banking account holder is provided only if the bank is registered with NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited). Only a few specified banks have been provided with this facility and the bank should be registered with NSDL.

In this way one can visit or can verify its Tax Credit through Form 26AS with the help of Income Tax Department Site.
