View Tax Credit Online – All Taxpayers

Every PAN (Permanent Account Number) holder and Taxpayer can view their Annual Tax Statement (known as Form 26AS or Tax Credit Statement) online. This statement, with respect to a financial year include details of tax deducted at source (TDS), tax collected at source (TCS), advance tax/self assessment tax/regular assessment tax etc., deposited in the bank by the taxpayers (PAN holders) and paid refund received during the financial year. Taxpayer (PAN holders) can view their Form 26AS (Annual Tax Statement) at ITR e-filing website, without any additional login. Just login in to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in with your login, and click on “My Accounts” -> “View Tax Credit Statement (Form 26AS)”. Afterward, select the “assessment year”, confirm your “date of birth” and proceed. Form 26AS is available with respect to Financial Year 05-06 onwards. Form 26AS (Annual Tax Statement) is divided into three parts namely; Part A, B and C. Part A displays details of tax which has been deducted at source (TDS), Part B displays details of tax collected at source (TCS) and Part C displays details of income tax directly paid by you (like advance tax self assessment tax) and details of the challan through which you have deposited this tax in the bank. 26AS is an excellent tool to verify the tax credit given to the assessee. The taxpayer should verify whether proper tax has been credited to their account. The credits available in the tax statement confirm that the tax deducted/collected by the deductor/collector has been deposited to the account of the government, the deductor/collector has accurately filed the TDS/TCS statement giving details of the tax deducted/collected on your behalf and bank has properly furnished the details of the tax deposited by you. In future, you will be able to use this Form 26AS as a proof of tax deducted/collected on behalf of you and the tax directly paid by you along with income tax return, after the need for submission of TDS/TCS certificates and tax payment challans along with income tax returns has been dispensed with by the Income Tax Department (ITD). Form 26AS helps in preparing Income Tax Return (ITR) and fill proper tax paid details. Providing accurate tax paid (including TDS) details in income tax return, ensures faster processing of returns. This in turn results in faster closure of assessment and also settling refunds wherever applicable.
